It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ted Forsgren. Ted served as CCA Florida's first employee and executive director for 23 years. He dedicated his life to protecting Florida's coastal resources and fisheries.
A fearless conservation advocate and leader, Ted was instrumental in advancing landmark fisheries policy in Florida. His accomplishments include advocating for gamefish status for redfish before the Marine Fisheries Commission, supporting the creation of Florida's first recreational saltwater fishing license and helping to pass the state constitutional amendment banning gillnets in state waters.
In 2025, CCA Florida honored Ted by creating the "Ted Forsgren Nekton Reef" and deploying two former dive vessels near Destin.
Ted's legacy will live on through the waters and communities he fought for, and through the "Ted Forsgren Conservation Award," which is CCA Florida's highest honor.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ted's family and loved ones.
