WENATCHEE — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) invites youth and families to join the Wenatchee Sportsman Association (WSA)’s for a National Hunting and Fishing Day event on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the North Central Washington Gun Club in Wenatchee. This free, family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with morning and afternoon sessions available.

Youth participants who are accompanied by an adult can enjoy hands-on activities to learn about hunting, fishing, and conservation, including:

• Rod-and-reel casting practice
• Archery practice
• 20-gauge shotgun shooting
• Air rifle shooting
• Educational displays and conversation partner booths

Certified hunter education instructors, master hunters, and shooting range safety officers will be on site to provide training, guidance, and promote the importance of hunter safety and to ensure a safe environment.

Pre-registration for the event is required to ensure there are enough materials for all participants. Families may register for either the morning session (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) or the afternoon session (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.).

The National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration also includes:

• Free hot dogs and chips
• Reusable drawstring safety gear bags for youth participants
• Door prize drawings and giveaways donated by local and national businesses
