DEC is seeking public comment regarding proposed regulations for a new black bass (largemouth bass and smallmouth bass) fishing tournament permitting and reporting system. This regulation would require a free permit to operate a bass tournament in New York State. A report of tournament results will be required at the conclusion of each event. This system will serve as a tool to help fisheries managers better understand tournament activity across the state and improve on black bass fisheries management. Comments must be received by June 10, 2024.
