Daiwa XBraid Made to Order for Vertical Jigging

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA – Productive vertical jigging is both art and science. The science marries a matched rod and reel alongside precision line of the appropriate weight with the right lure for the situation. The art is just that – seamless and inventive operation of the abovementioned gear. We’ve all fished beside better and worse jiggers than ourselves, the best of the best always boating the most fish with artistry.

For 2025, XBRAID has improved the science to the benefit of your ever-improving art with the new X8 JIGMAN Braid.

Developed wholly with vertical jigging in mind, the 8-strand phenom embodies specific characteristics to advance the jigging experience.

“Existing XBRAID lines are already preferred by jig anglers, but the new X8 JIGMAN will elevate their vertical game to another level,” said DAIWA Marketing Manager, Marc Mills. “Every nuance that makes a braid better for jigging was considered and then realized in X8 JIGMAN.”

For openers, like XBRAID’s other premium braided lines, X8 JIGMAN is constructed via the company’s proprietary WX weaving machines and nearly supernatural processes to make the most consistent finished product possible. With the traditional weaving methods employed by other brands, the line comes off eight individual bobbins, causing line twists and inconsistencies. Not the case with X8 JIGMAN. The secret sauce is how the strands are delivered off the bobbin.

Beyond the advanced WX weave, X8 JIGMAN utilizes IZANAS® strands, which are considered a generation beyond Dyneema. The ultra-high molecular weight, polyethylene strands offer the strength and modulus of an organic fiber – 8x stronger than piano wire of the same gauge.

Beyond IZANAS being an unrivaled base material, it’s how individual weights of the entire XBRAID family are manufactured that makes it superior to the competition. Other brands take a single base material and stretch it to achieve the desired diameter and weight. This creates inconsistencies that lead to weak spots.

Uniquely, each diameter and weight of X8 JIGMAN is produced from a dedicated spool. So, for example, if 30-pound X8 JIGMAN is the desired final weight, the base material fiber is 30-pound. No stretching. No inconsistencies.

XBRAID’s “top secret” WX Weave also produces a denser weave – 1.5 X the competition – with more material in the finished product. That tighter weave results in a smoother, more abrasion resistant fishing line. The meticulous process also takes twice as long as the competition and anglers are the beneficiaries of the patient fabrication.

This tighter weave also causes X8 JIGMAN to slice the water and vastly reduce drag while your lure sinks. Subsequently, you maintain feel while the lure descends, reaches its destination, and begins its deadly dance.

The slickness of XBRAID’s X8 JIGMAN is further realized with its water-resistant coating. Less water absorption means more tautness and sensitivity.

Smoothness and roundness are other hallmarks of X8 JIGMAN. Smoothness means better delivery off the spool and effortless flow through the rod guides. Roundness also equates to improved line flow, as well as balanced winding back on the spool.

Lastly, XBRAID intelligently added three vivid line color changes every 50-feet. This makes depth tracking simple, especially when targeting suspended fish.

Expect XBRAID X8 JIGMAN to become fundamental for the pursuit of species like grouper, snapper, tuna, and amberjack on the saltwater side, as well as lake trout in the freshwater realm.
