Okuma Catalina Boat Rods

ONTARIO, Calif. - If you spend your days chasing big fish in the salt, you know your gear needs to be tough, responsive, and ready for anything. That’s exactly what Okuma had in mind with the new Catalina Boat Rod Series, dropping in 2025. Designed for serious saltwater anglers—whether you're live-baiting on the West Coast or chasing pelagics in the East—these rods are built to handle brutal offshore conditions with power, precision, and comfort that lasts all day.

The Okuma Catalina boat rods are built to thrive in tough offshore conditions, combining innovation with bulletproof durability. At the core of each rod is a 24-ton carbon blank, engineered for a perfect balance of lightweight sensitivity and raw strength. Add in Okuma’s exclusive UFR (Ultimate Flex Reinforced) rod tip technology, and you’ve got the extra lifting power exactly where you need it—right at the tip—when you're locked into heavy fish. The Catalina Series includes both Boat Rods and Rail Rods, each fine-tuned for its purpose.

The boat rod models feature double foot welded stainless-steel guides that can stand up to the abuse of offshore fishing. Each model includes a lightweight yet secure Fuji graphite reel seat, along with comfortable EVA foam fore and rear grips designed for full-day handling and control. The Boat Rods come in a 7’6” length with Medium, Medium Heavy, and Heavy actions to cover a wide range of techniques.

"With the Catalina boat models, we wanted to build something that could handle it all—whether you're flylining a sardine for yellowtail or dropping deep for tilefish.” said John Bretza, Product Manager for Okuma “These rods are tough, refined, and truly made for the demands of offshore anglers coast to coast."

For anglers who do battle from the rail, the rail-rod models are built extra tough. Outfitted with SeaGuide stainless steel guides with Zirconium inserts, they’re made to withstand the stress of heavy braid under load. A heavy-duty aluminum reel seat with a double lock nut system keeps your big-game reels firmly in place. Additional features like a shrink tube rear grip, machined aluminum gimbal, and extended foregrip give you added leverage and control when you’re in the thick of a fight. Available in a 7’6” length with XX-Heavy and XXX-Heavy actions.

"Rail fishing puts a unique kind of stress on gear, and we wanted to design something that stands up to that abuse without compromising feel.” Said Daniel Ramos, Product Development, Rod Specialist for Okuma. “The Catalina Rail Rods were built with that in mind—durability where it matters, plus control and comfort for those long hauls."

The Catalina Boat Rod Series are backed by a 1-year limited warranty. For more information about the Catalina Boat Rods and other Okuma products, visit www.okumafishingusa.com.
