Clearwater, FL – David Stanley has officially announced his retirement as President at Stanley Sports Supply at the end of 2023, marking the culmination of an illustrious 50+ year career in the fishing tackle industry.

Stanley Sports Supply was founded by David’s parents Aubrey and Elizabeth Stanley in 1959 in Clearwater, FL. Aubrey’s military service at Drew Field (now McDill AFB) had introduced him to the area and sparked his love for fishing, later spawning the wholesale tackle business. After their parents, the sons Ray, Bobby, and David continued to build upon the solid foundation leading to the long-term success of the family business.

David, the youngest of the brothers, and company president since 2010, in thinking about his career, David Stanley reflected, “It has been extremely rewarding over the past years seeing all of the changes in the recreational fishing industry. Our close relationships with our vendors, representatives, and customers have helped us grow each year with new products and services; I would personally like to extend my sincere appreciation to each and every one of you. Additionally, a big thanks to all the staff over the many years at Stanley Sports Supply, whose dedication and hard work over the years has been crucial to our success.

I would also like to recognize and extend my greatest appreciation to my Mom and Dad, for their guidance along the way and also my partners and brothers Ray and Bob for all their help in making Stanley Sports Supply a thriving family business. It is my fondest hope that Stanley’s success continues long into the future.”
