Louisiana Stocks 32,000 Florida Strain Bass in Lake Boeuf

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Inland Fisheries Section successfully partnered with Responsible Anglers United (RAU), an angler-based conservation group from Lafourche Parish, to complete the first stocking of 32,000 pure Florida Bass in Lake Boeuf on October 17, 2025.

This effort follows LDWF’s baseline genetics sampling completed earlier this month, where biologists conducted electrofishing surveys across Lake Boeuf and its adjacent canal system to collect fin clips from the existing bass population for genetic analysis. This data will serve as a reference point to evaluate the effects of future stockings on the lake’s bass population.

The LDWF–RAU Lake Boeuf Partnership Project is a multi-year initiative focused on studying the genetics, growth, and survival of Florida Bass in coastal systems. Future stockings are planned through 2027, followed by genetic monitoring to track results and guide management decisions.

LDWF looks forward to continue working with RAU and is excited about the opportunities this partnership brings for Louisiana anglers.
