Jocumsen Headlines Tennessee River Cleanup Prior to Bassmaster Classic

Oceanside, CA – Bass fishing fans will find a better-kept Tennessee River when the Bassmaster Classic launches March 24-26, 2023, due to an extensive clean-up event led by Hobie® Eyewear fishing pro and Classic qualifier Carl Jocumsen.

The Fear My Heart River Clean Up, which stems from Jocumsen’s passion for the Tennessee River in fishing and other recreational uses, will take place Sunday, March 12, on the Tennessee River in Knoxville, just upriver of the Classic launch site. Hobie® Eyewear will be on-site to lend hands to the clean-up effort and to support other participants. Support includes the donation of a FREE pair of sunglasses from the Hobie® Floating Collection to the first 20 people that sign a waiver and 10 additional free pairs for winners chosen at random after the cleanup concludes. All participants will receive a $50 voucher for a pair of Hobie® Eyewear sunglasses.

Hobie® Eyewear, which recently partnered with Jocumsen, chose the Floating Collection for this effort because a key benefit of floating sunglasses is that pairs of these glasses that inadvertently end up overboard can be retrieved and therefore don’t turn into litter in a river or lake. The Floating Collection includes five models and several frame and lens color options.

Sustainability is a high priority for Hobie® Eyewear, which can be seen in conscious efforts during the past year to reduce single-use plastic use in packaging and the ongoing development of means to use eco-friendly packaging.

“We continue researching and testing ways to utilize recycled materials in select product offerings and utilize eco-friendly manufacturing and freight methods," said Dylan Coates, Marketing Manager of Hobie® Eyewear.

The Fear My Heart River Clean Up is being held in conjunction with Keep Tennessee River Beautiful and several other organizations and will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at Governor Ned McWherter/Riverside Landing Park, 1648 Riverside Drive, Knoxville, TN.
