Spanish Mackerel Catch Limits and Accountability Measures

Second, the Council will consider a framework amendment to reduce catch limits and modify accountability measures for Spanish mackerel. During this meeting the Council also plans to continue work on an amendment addressing the Deep-Water Grouper Complex management in preparation of holding public hearings. It will also hear an update on a requested emergency rule that aims to fast-track red grouper catch limit increases for this year and begin discussing the amendment on red grouper that will follow. The Council will review the Ecosystem Technical Committee’s recommendations, including feedback on its Fishery Ecosystem Plan and the initial work and recommendations on the Red Tide pilot Fishery Ecosystem Issue. The Council will also discuss the Executive Order on Restoring American Seafood Competitiveness.
