Darby Communications Partners With Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership on Menhaden Conservation

Asheville, NC—Darby Communications, a leading public relations agency specializing in working with organizations in the fishing, hunting, outdoor, and endurance industries, is proud to announce a new partnership with the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP). Through this collaboration, Darby Communications will support TRCP's communication efforts surrounding menhaden conservation and the critical role this forage fish plays in sustaining healthy marine ecosystems and coastal economies across the East Coast.

The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to guaranteeing all Americans quality places to hunt and fish. Menhaden conservation efforts are a key focus of TRCP's fisheries work. This fish serves as a foundational food source for sportfish like striped bass, bluefish, and redfish, as well as for ospreys, whales, and other iconic wildlife. Healthy menhaden populations are essential for balanced marine ecosystems, resilient fisheries, and vibrant coastal communities from Maine to Florida.

"Menhaden are a linchpin species for the entire East Coast," says Jaclyn Lunaas, TRCP's Forage Fish Program Manager. "When menhaden populations are managed responsibly, everyone benefits, from anglers and commercial fishermen to coastal economies and the wildlife that depend on them. Partnering with Darby Communications will help us better tell this story and elevate the importance of science-based fisheries management."

Through this partnership, Darby Communications will work to amplify TRCP's messaging around forage fish conservation, highlight the far-reaching impacts of menhaden management decisions, and engage anglers, conservationists, and policymakers through strategic media outreach and storytelling. The collaboration will focus on increasing public awareness of how menhaden fisheries affect recreational fishing opportunities, predator species health, coastal economies, and overall ocean resilience.
