Mercury's New Concept 808-HP Outboard

CES POWER PREVIEW David Faulkes, CEO of the Brunswick Corporation, announced an 808-hp "concept" engine this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Few details were given, but it appears to be built on the naturally-aspirated 7.6 L V12 600-hp platform that was introduced several years ago. The engine's large displacement provides a massive foundation for power gains. For comparison, high-performance automotive V12s of similar displacement often exceed 1,000 hp when twin-turbocharged.
