Minnetonka, Minnesota – Now, Rapala has added even more scent and salt (plus a spade tail) to create one of the most irresistible snacks yet for dropshotting and ned rigging. True to its name, the Salted NedRoll is packed with salt, allowing the bait to be neutrally buoyant in the water – a perfect presentation to aggravate fish who are feeling a bit salty themselves.
"Ned rigging is a finesse tactic that has played a huge role in generating a lot more bites and filling a lot more fishing boats in the last few years," said Wheeler. "The Salted NedRoll complements the BLT so nicely. Some days, I want a higher floating material where the bait stands up really well. I have that in the BLT. Then, there are other days when I want it to stay lower to the bottom. That's when I bring in the Salted NedRoll, for a little more finesse and a little more discretion."
As well as the Salted Ned Roll works on a ned rig, there aren't many baits better on a drop shot. "This bait's a lot different from the BLT," said Dustin Connell, pro angler and CrushCity crew member. "We've added a lot of extra salt and scent to make it neutrally buoyant which is what you want on your drop shot. All you gotta do is thread the bait on a Finesse Neko hook or nose hook it and let it sit. If the fish are kinda finicky, just leave the bait there. That bait is gonna sit completely horizontal, and it just aggravates them. Then, when you shake it, you'll have that awesome action on the tail."
Like the BLT, the Salted NedRoll is a half shell. But, the Salted NedRoll has a wider body and a spade tail to impart maximum action even when it's sitting still.
"To me, one of the most important actions to generate bites is that glide that you get with the Salted NedRoll. The spade tail allows that to happen."
"This bait is simple enough to mimic a lot of different fish, but unique enough to be dangerous. It will mimic a crawfish and a goby. There's no secret in this day and age. The subtleties are the key to generating more bites than the next guy."
The Salted Nedroll is 3.25" and comes in every color angler's need for smallmouth and largemouth bass: Baby Bass, Goby, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, Black, Green Pumpkin Blue, Green Pumpkin Watermelon, Electric Shad, Green Pumpkin Goby, Ox Blood Red Flake, Ghost Morning Dawn, Green Pumpkin Magic, and Perch.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the Salted Nedroll is US $5.99.
