Stop Waiting, Start Searching
DAIWA's new PRESSO Attra is a high-efficiency search spoon designed to locate and trigger both stocked and wild trout
FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (May 8, 2026) – From the deep, crystalline reservoirs of the Sierra Nevadas to the high-traffic municipal ponds of the Mid-Atlantic, trout fishing in North America is an exercise in accessibility. Every year, state and federal agencies stock nearly 100 million catchable trout to ensure the public has immediate, high-quality opportunities to get on the water. However, with that accessibility comes a unique challenge: in these often high-pressure environments, success depends on the ability to first locate the fish…and then fool them.
DAIWA, headquartered in the heart of the Western trout scene, is proud to announce the release of the PRESSO Attra. This exquisite Japanese casting spoon was divined to bridge the gap between a high-speed search bait and a precision finesse tool, providing a definitive solution for anglers looking to capitalize on these stocked waters, as well as the wilds.

ORANGE MANGO
"Whether you're fishing a 'put-and-take' lake on the West Coast or a cold-water stream in the East, efficiency is the baseline for success," said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin. "The PRESSO allows you to search a fishery at speed with a bait that's proven to stimulate strikes."
Designed for both wild and stocked trout, the PRESSO Attra is built for the angler who refuses to sit and wait with marshmallows and split-shot sinkers. Its deep-cup geometry is meticulously crafted to grab water immediately upon impact, resulting in a quick start-up that initiates an aggressive, seductive wobbling action right out of the blocks.
"Whether you're burning it across the upper water column or slowing it down to target deep-seated fish, this spoon maintains its signature pulse where others simply wash out," said Martin.
Exquisite Craftsmanship, Purposeful Design
The PRESSO Attra is built to perform where the bite is hard-earned. Its deep-cup geometry is meticulously crafted to grab water immediately upon impact, resulting in a quick start-up that initiates an aggressive, seductive wobbling action off the blocks. Unlike many mass-produced spoons, the PRESSO Attra is stamped from pure copper. This choice is deliberate; copper's superior density provides a weight-to-volume ratio that allows for a compact, snack-sized presentation that still has the ballast to stay deep on a fast burn.
Beyond its physical weight, copper possesses a unique acoustic signature; its softer composition produces a low-frequency, natural vibration that mimics the subtle thrum of aquatic life rather than the synthetic ping of harder alloys. To further the spoon's technical edge, the weight is slightly offset, encouraging long, arrow-straight casts even through crosswinds and stubborn headwinds.

Precision in Every Detail
The PRESSO Attra is built to cover water. It comes in three weights—1.5g, 1.8g, and 2.3g—all packed into a uniform one-inch profile so you can maintain your presentation while adjusting for depth. The 1.5g and 1.8g versions are the speedsters for the upper water column. When you need to reach deeper holes or really burn the retrieve to trigger a reaction, the 2.3g provides the necessary punch to stay down in the strike zone without the lure losing its composure at high speeds.
To handle a trout's highly evolved vision, as well as high-pressure environments, the Attra comes in nine critically selected colors. This is a vetted palette designed to fool even educated trout that have spent the season looking at every lure in the catalog.
Finally, the PRESSO Attra is built for high-efficiency fishing. Each spoon comes rigged with a micro-barbless hook that holds its ground after hookset yet allows for a nearly instantaneous release. It's a design that keeps the fish healthy and gets your lure back to work without missing a beat.
The System Approach
To maximize the Attra's potential, DAIWA recommends a system-based approach: pairing the spoon with a 1000-size spinning reel spooled with 4- or 6-pound XBRAID FINESSE X8 or 2- to 4-pound fluorocarbon. When fished on a 7'6" ultralight PRESSO AIR rod, the feedback is unparalleled, allowing the angler to feel every tick and turn of the blade.
