Reminder to striped bass anglers:
When measuring the total length of a striped bass for size limit regulations, total length is defined as the greatest straight-line length in inches as measured on a fish from the anterior most tip of the jaw or snout with the mouth closed to the farthest extremity of the tail with the upper and lower fork of the tail squeezed together.
This definition has been adopted by regulation and is effective now in accordance with the ASMFC's Addendum III to Amendment 7 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Striped Bass.
- The mouth must be closed, and the tail must be squeezed.
- Measurement must be a straight line. Do not lay a tape measure over the body. It is recommended to lay the fish flat on top of, or alongside a measuring rule.
