CCA Taylor-Martin Reef
On August 18 and 20, CCA Florida, the Collier Community Foundation, and Collier County will deploy 50 prefabricated reef modules approximately 12-13 miles offshore from Gordon's Pass within the Tod Sirod Artificial Reef Zone. The CCA Taylor-Martin Reef will expand artificial reef habitat off Collier County and support marine life and recreational angling in Southwest Florida.
The $110,100 project is supported by $53,100 from CCA Florida, $50,000 from the Collier Community Foundation, and $7,000 from Collier County. The planned deployment includes 32 Goliath Reef Balls and 18 Supra Reef Balls manufactured by Reef Innovations in Sarasota. The reef modules are designed to provide durable, complex habitat where fish and other marine organisms can seek shelter, forage, and grow. Their unique design and textured surfaces create habitat at multiple scales while adding long-lasting structure to the seafloor.
This project was supported by the CCA FL Naples Chapter $1,000,000 Habitat Pledge Grant.
