KALISPELL — Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has selected Leo Rosenthal as the new regional fisheries manager for Region 1 in northwest Montana.
Rosenthal is a Butte native with nearly two decades of experience working across several FWP regions statewide. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montana and a Master of Science degree from Montana State University. Over the course of his career, Rosenthal has built a strong foundation in fisheries science, habitat conservation, and collaborative resource management.
Rosenthal has spent the majority of his professional career as a fisheries biologist in Region 1, where he contributed to diverse fisheries projects, worked closely with partner agencies, and engaged regularly with local communities.
"Leo's experience in Region 1, paired with his extensive knowledge of our fisheries and the landscapes they depend on, makes him an outstanding fit for this position," said regional supervisor Amber Steed. "His time spent here has given him valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities in northwest Montana, and his exceptional communication skills will help him continue serving as both a steward of our fisheries resources and a trusted conduit of information for the public."
The regional fisheries manager oversees fisheries programs, staff, and operations across northwest Montana, ensuring healthy aquatic ecosystems and supporting sustainable recreational fishing opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
