Miami Beach Vessel Exclusion Zone
The City of Miami Beach has begun a process to create a 222-acre vessel exclusion zone on the north side of the Government Cut jetties, extending north 1.5 miles. This proposed closure includes the North Jetty and a historic fishing area where anglers have pursued tarpon, snook, and other species for generations. The Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCA) opposes this proposed marine protected area. Our public waters should remain accessible to anglers unless there is a clear, science-based reason for restricting access. CCA Florida is actively working with local anglers and State Officials.
