Berkley Unlocks Depth Control With All-New Unlock Crankbait
Versatile sinking crankbait gives anglers control over depth and action throughout the retrieve
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Traditional crankbaits are built to reach a predetermined depth, leaving anglers to match the right bait, cast distance, and retrieve speed to fish holding at a specific level in the water column. The all-new Berkley Unlock changes that equation. Designed as a versatile sinking crankbait, the Unlock gives anglers control over where in the water column their bait fishes, allowing them to target fish from shallow cover to deeper open water with a single bait.
Instead of relying on a traditional crankbait dive curve, the Unlock allows anglers to set their depth by simply adjusting the countdown before beginning the retrieve. Its sinking design helps eliminate portions of the cast traditionally spent getting a crankbait down to its target depth and bringing it back toward the surface, allowing anglers to keep the bait in the strike zone for more of the retrieve. Whether targeting a shallow weed line, suspended fish offshore or fish positioned along a steep break, anglers can adjust the depth of the Unlock to the situation without constantly changing baits.
The Unlock is about more than just depth control. On a straight retrieve, it delivers the familiar hunting action of a crankbait, while changes in cadence produce a darting motion. When paused, the Unlock produces a unique hover-and-flare action designed to trigger reaction bites from following fish. This combination allows anglers to control the bait from splashdown through the end of the retrieve and adapt their presentation to fish behavior along the way. The Unlock can be fished shallow or deep, around vegetation or in open water. It can be straight retrieved, jerked or trolled, giving bass and walleye anglers a single bait built to cover a wide range of situations on the water.
